Craft Room Organization- a peek into how I organize some of my craft supplies-part 1

hello hello my lovely friends! As a way of introducing some of myself in this new blog and to those who are new to ila and alice, I thought I would share some of my craft room organization with you. I am a huge fan of vintage as you can see and I really enjoy a true mix and match of styles and objects. My craft room has been a labour of love and collecting all of these gems has taken me well over fifteen years. As a rule I consider it bad luck to drive by a GoodWill or Value Village without going in.
Heaven forbid I anger the goddess of all things second-hand, vintage and kitsch ;)

I love vintage tins and containers but I have found that incorporating newer drawer sets and containers really help keep my supplies organized along side the vintage tins and containers.

Vintage train cases are one of my all time favourite things to use for storage. I absolutely love the shape of them. There is something lovely about how they were designed to carry cosmetics and toiletries for women while travelling. Of course you could put anything in them but I find the idea of these cases filled with creams and tubes and all things glamorous very appealing. There is such a romanticized element to these cases. I picture a woman in the late 1950s with dark glasses, a scarf wrapped around her head and tied under her chin racing for a train getting ready to leave a dark platform. WHERE is she going and why???! LOL!
I may have been a murder mystery writer in a former life ;)

I stacked up a couple of books and a shoe box to create a platform for the containers to stand on.

I purchased this metal tray from Hobby Lobby in the USA a few years ago. I have to admit that I struggled now and again with what to put in it. I loved the tray but after a while I found that it was limiting as to what I could store in it as far as craft supplies were concerned. It has proven to be useful over the years once I figured out what worked best in each section. I am very happy with its current collection and it holds many things that I find useful but I don’t use everyday. I suffer from “out of sight out of mind” so this helps me to keep close what I like to use but I don’t reach for everyday.

Thanks for stopping by and spending a few minutes with me. I hope you enjoyed part 1 of this series.
Take care and see you soon!
