A Junk Journal/ Daily Planner Pages
I find that I am a bit of a Goldilocks when it comes to daily planners. This planner is too small, this planner is too big LOL! I search and search for the perfect planner and I never seem to be happy with what is out there. I usually like a bigger, full page planner because my hand writing is messy and it is quite large. Just about every January I head out and look for a big full page planner and I think that this will be the year that it works when in the past, it never does. I am the eternal optimist LOL!
One of the things that ends up making me a bit crazy is that my coveted giant planner takes up a ton of space on my desk and work table. I find that I am constantly moving around and then in frustration I give up, put it away and end up going and getting a smaller planner that is an A5 size or something about 5” x 8”.
Based on frustrations and planner failures of the past, this year I decided to take a different and more fun approach this year. I set out to make a junk journal that I will use as a weekly planner for my business. I am glad I did!
I don’t know why I didn’t think of this sooner but it suddenly dawned on me that as someone who loves junk journals and makes them for a living, that my planner could be a version a junk journal. I set out to create a few fun and colourful journal pages by using ephemera that I already had, as opposed to printing out a ton of digitals.
I am a digital addict and I LOVE creating and buying digitals to use in journaling but with this project, I decide part of the challenge would be to dig into my stash and use some of the wonderful ephemera that I already have. It was a great way to reconnect with some of the supplies that I had purchased but had long forgotten. AND! to dig out digitals that I had already printed out but had not used yet.
The only other criteria I had for this journal was that I need to have some hidden journal space because I am not keen on my messy writing. I decided it would be a great way to use up postcards from pen pals. These also provide hidden journaling spaces but also give me a bigger hidden space to write on. It’s a win win!
I also enjoy being able to use up vintage playing cards, envelopes and writing paper that I had bought in thrift stores but hadn’t used in a project yet. I am really happy with how it has turned out so far. If you would like to see a flip thru of this journal, click the link below.
I’ll post an update here and on my YouTube channel about how this journal is working out once I have been using it for a few weeks.
Thanks for being here!! Hope there is some inspiration here for you! Lisa :)
